Bioinformatics Specialist

**Minimum requirements for the role**:

- Must have an M.Sc Degree specializing in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics
- Previous experience in molecular marker development and design within the vegetable production industry will be required
- Experience with Python and R Studio is essential
- Must be able to deal with deadlines and handle a large volume of samples and data sets
- The ability to communicate in a multicultural context with good level of English, both written and spoken are important for this role
- Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to work at a steady pace according to seasonal peaks are essential
- Must have a valid drivers license with own transport
- Developing and designing molecular markers with the key emphasis to provide bioinformatic support to the research laboratory.
- Preparing and presenting results and reports to the Head of Research Laboratories EMEA.
- Performing and managing molecular laboratory functions, such as PCR, RE digestion and q-PCR.
- Performing DNA extractions to genotype vegetable plants to facilitate crop breeding.
- Overseeing diagnostic work by RT-PCR and ELISA, to assist with pathogen detection in plant samples.
- Ensuring adherence to GLP, GMP and relevant company protocols.
