**Job Advert Summary**:
The Rustenburg Laboratory is looking for a **Lab Technician** to join their team, This role is based in **Rustenburg** and report to the **Laboratory Manager**.This role will suit a passionate,detail orientated and driven individual.
**Minimum Requirements**:
Minimum Grade 12/relevant NQF Level 6 qualification (Animal Health/Welfare) will be advantageous.
Computer literacy (particularly MS word and excel)
Verbal and written communication
Attention to detail and cleanliness.
Able to work as part of a team or independently when required
Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in media preparation and poultry environment.
Quality of and turnaround times for media preparation
Sterility of glassware
Reliability and utilisation of media preparation equipment
Self-starter and Lead times on results
Laboratory practices
Media preparation principles
Health/safety/OHSA/ISO practices and regulations applicable to a laboratory
Operating specialised media preparation and associated equipment
Physically fit
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Perform routine post-mortems and assist the Veterinarian with diagnostics post-mortem.
Receiving of mortalities and live birds at the post-mortem area.
Registering and capturing of mortalities and lesion scorings and sending of results.
Disinfect the Post-Mortem area after every batch of post
- mortem done and. ensure that area is always tidy.
Inform Quality Supervisor/Laboratory Manager of stock levels of consumables when needed.
Assist with packing of vaccines and medication.
Ensure that all health and safety rules are implemented and followed.
Assist in other departments when needed.
Report any problem to the Laboratory Manager and take responsibility for your actions.
Obey any reasonable instruction from higher authority (Laboratory Manager and Veterinarian).
Obey any reasonable instruction regarding the quality system from the Quality Supervisor
