**JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DOG HANDLERS**

1. Dog handler to update in both occurrence book and dog register.
All matters relating to the dog:
- Vet visits
- Service Provider visits if they bring food for the dog or to wash the dog.
- If the dog is not feeling well
- If the dog has fleas
2. The entire Dog History must be kept on file for the sake of the VET or any inspection that might take place.
3. Dog handlers must be fully trained and qualified with at least a DH2 qualification.
4. Must have love and empathy for dogs (animals)
5. Must be able to distinguish when the dog is showing emotions or trying to communicate something.
6. The dog cannot be on-site without a qualified dog handler.
7. Make sure proper handover is conducted before knocking off duty.
8. Never leave the site before your reliever has reported for duty.

**CARING FOR THE DOG**

9. Make sure the dog is not exposed to harsh weather conditions: Sun, Rain, Cold, or
Wind.

10. In case of fire, ensure the dog is moved to safety first while attending to an emergency.

11. Make sure the dog can walk freely within a confined and supervised parameter daily to enjoy himself.

12. This can be done when no people are walking around.
13. Make sure the dog always has clean water.
14. Always check if the water is not hot from the sun or dirty.
15. Keep water in a shady area and the same area where the dog will be familiar with his drinking or eating spot.

**DOG SAFETY**

16. Make sure the dog is happy and looking forward to working with you.
17. Walk the dog during the day if they are off duty.
18. Make sure you keep the dog on a leash if taking him for a walk during the day.
19. Avoid walking the dog where there are thorns or a hazardous environment.
20. Make sure no one feeds the dog anything apart from appointed dog handlers.
21. Only Vet approved dog snacks from the company can be fed to the dog occasionally for a job well done
