Laser Operator

Engineering company in KZN Pinetown is looking to employ a Laser Operator with experience in the sheet metal industry to start as soon as possible.

**Requirements**:

- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and in particular 2D dfx’s and sheet metal terms.
- Load correct material from the shelf onto the machine with assistant (if needed).
- Select correct nest for material being cut.
- Select cutting parameters correctly to match the material to be cut.
- Set machine nozzles for correct material.
- Tweak nests and leads in laser software if needed.
- Check and ensure a quality cut is consistently being achieved and tweak parameters to ensure edge and part quality.
- Record and mark off what parts have been processed from the laser cutting schedule.
- Move goods into appropriate locations for stocking, keeping pathways clear.
- Liaise and coordinate with other shift operators.
- Nest parts according to laser cutting schedule and determine material requirements.
- Participate in scheduled stock takes and variance investigations.
- Collaborate with operations staff for expected deliveries.
- Assist the Laser Cutting Department as needed to meet efficiency requirements.

**The following are traits required of the laser operator**:

- Experience in the sheet-metal industry
- Experience with laser cutters is an advantage
- Knowledge in reading technical drawings
- Computer literate (MS Office, Google Sheets)
- Able to work day or night shift
- Can operate a forklift
- Willing to work weekends if the jobs requires
- Good housekeeping
- Attentive to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic
- Good communication skills
- Punctual and reliable
- Enjoy working in a team
- Willing to learn and grow
