**Job Purpose**:
To reduce trucks standing time in the yard, ensuring organisation of the yard, checking fleet on site and coordinating between all stakeholders on site to limit and stop dispatch delays.
**Job Function**:
**General**
- Ensure coordination and availability of escorts at any time for relevant loads
- Proactively follow/drive all internal and external stakeholders (workshops, operations, OBE etc ) to ensure fleet is dispatched with the shortest of delays and/or no delay at all
- Timely daily reports
- Frequent communication with Workshop on status of vehicle repairs/maintenance, driving completion to limit and cut delays
- Closely monitor and assess department activities, processes and procedures and advise management accordingly on proposed solutions
- Immediately communicate issues/problems resulting in truck delays to management when failing to resolve with team and other stakeholders
- Any other delegated tasks deemed as reasonable and as assigned by the reporting manager
**Dispatch Office**
- Document control - POD’s, toll cards, worksheet, defect reports and loading orders
- Liaise with operations for loading orders and documentation
- Document control and filing in archives
- Dispatch of vehicles
- Weigh Bridge control and certificates
**Diesel Control**
- Diesel dips and fillings
- Ensure diesel filling documents are attached to driver worksheets
- Ensure the efficient operation of the diesel station, as per fuel requisitions when requested by driver or operations
**Yard Control**
- Ensure vehicles are sent to and collected from Workshops on a timely basis
- Organise parking in the yard whilst considering incoming and outgoing flow.
- Ensure all trucks are aligned and parked in a safe way for the shortest period as possible
- Liaise with Workshops regarding vehicle availability
- Collect and send vehicles in and out of the yard
- Ensure spare horses are dipped and locked in the lock up areas for safe keeping
- Complete documentation for lock up area
- Schedule forklift services
**Vehicle Inspections**
- Check for on board equipment on all vehicles and trailers
- Check lashing and securing of loads and report any discrepancies to management for each vehicle
- Check validity of licences, roadworthy certificates and tax certificates on all vehicles and trailers
- Check all Tarpaulins and Load Securement
- Assess OBE compliance, for each truck entering yard and report any discrepancies (less & extras)
- Hand over and/or request from stores extra OBE to be handed over to fleet or removed from fleet
- Manage OBE Stores and issuing and replacement of On-Board Equipment
- Check all Hazardous placards and orange diamonds on all loaded vehicles
- Check if Chevron plates on the rear of trailers are clean and visible
**QHSE**
Ensure all QHSE requirements are adhered too and relevant policies and procedures are followed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Isando, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:
- Despatch: 1 year (preferred)
