**Main purpose of the job**:
to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Clinical Trial Protocols and Good Pharmacy Practice
(GPP).

**Location**:
VIDA - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital

**Key performance areas**:
**a) Dispensing**

In dealing and caring for each patient:
- Verify script to ensure accurate dispensing.
- Dispense IP/medication in line with Standard Operating Procedures and protocols. c. Ensure correct labelling of
- IP/medication prior to dispensing.
- Ensure integrity of IP/medication prior to dispensing by checking expiry date and other physical characteristics
- Conduct proper product usage counselling as and when required.
- Maintain dispensing logs/IP accountability Logs as per SOP’S and Protocols.

**b) Stock Management**
- Ensure regular stock take of Investigational Product (IP)/medication as per project specific protocol
requirements and SOP’S.
- Ensure sufficient stock levels of IP/medication based on patient demand by ordering IP/medication
timeously.
- Ensure unused products and expired products are returned to supplier or destroyed as per protocol
requirement and SOP’S.
- Ensure that IP/medication is stored at the right temperature. e. Ensure daily checks of fridge, freezer and room temperature before any randomisations take place and document these checks.
- Report any temperature deviations immediately to monitor and/or sponsor and inform clinicians. Place
affected doses in Quarantine until further instructions from sponsor are received.
- When receiving stock, verify that what have been delivered is the same as what was ordered. Report any discrepancies to the supplier within 24 hours.
- Ensure proper storage immediately after receipt in line with protocol guidelines.

**c) Administration**
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and study specific or pharmacy related processes.
- Update accountability logs upon dispensing of IP/medication. c. Compile any reports as requested by projects from time to time.
- Ensure regulatory file is updated with current updates. e. Maintain the dispensing logs according to SOP’S.

**d) Self - management and Performance Ownership**
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks & activities and demonstrate effective self-management.
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and
accurately maintained.
- Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met and provide appropriate means of
resolution.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Respond openly to feedback.
- Take ownership for own career development.
- Assist others and go the extra mile to meet team targets and objectives.
- Manage own disruptive emotions (handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact on the
team).

**e) Customer Service**
- Ensure high level of customer centricity in all dealings with both internal and external customers.

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **BPharm Degree.**:

- **Good Clinical Practice (GCP) advantageous.**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **Minimum 2 years’ work experience as a pharmacist.**

**Professional Body Registration**:

- **South African Pharmacy Council**

**Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities**
- **_Experience in clinical trials will be advantageous._**:

- High Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Exceptional organisational and administrative skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Patient, tactful and empathetic towards participants.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work extra hours if required from time to time.
