Agricultural Specialist

To provide a professional agriculture and technical specialist service to support and to effectively provide ongoing technical advice and high quality of evaluation of the Fortune40 Project. The evaluation will focus on both implementation and outcome. It seeks to establish whether the program is implemented per the program design and whether the intended outcomes or results are achieved. After the evaluation, there should be recommendations for improving the program.

**Minimum Requirements**

Preferred Minimum Education and Experience
- A relevant 3-year qualification in Agriculture (crop and animal, mechanization, and aquaculture)
- 3 years’ experience in Agricultural Extension Services or
- 2 years’ experience in Agricultural businesses, a Co-op, or similar organizations

Critical Competencies
- Microsoft Office
- Knowledge / Experience of financial and business analytical principles, tools, and systems
- Property Valuation Principles
- Agricultural Economics
- Risk Management Principles
- Lending / Credit Assessment Principles
- Financial and Business Acumen

Additional Requirements
- Extended hours as and when required.
- Travel as and when required.
- Needs to keep abreast with agricultural economic trends

**Duties and Responsibilities**

You will be responsible for running an evaluation study which should respond to the following proposed questions, which may be revised and improved by the you, as the evaluator:

- Is the program implemented as designed in the policy?
- What are the challenges that the program faced during its implementation?
- Is the program reaching the targeted people?
- Is the program achieving the intended outcomes?
- How many are youth cooperatives participating in this program productive and successful to date?
- Are the allocated resources sufficient to implement the program effectively? (Status of
- participating sites, productive potential concerning capacity, assets, and linkages,
- measuring the effectiveness of the program concerning results)

You will be responsible for the following deliverables:

- Develop Evaluation design
- Review the Theory of Change
- Collect Data
- Analyse Data
- Compile results and findings
- Conclusion and Recommendation

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: R25,000.00 - R35,000.00 per month
