Maintenance Fitter

Our client in the Food Manufacturing Industry requires your qualification, skill and experience as a Maintenance Fitter for one of their manufacturing plants in Montague Gardens, Cape Town.

**SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB**:To carry out repairs, maintenance and operation in a food manufacturing environment.

**POSITION REPORTS TO**:Engineering Supervisor

**DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES**
- General machine maintenance in a food manufacturing environment
- Ensure Planned maintenance is carried out within BOP.
- Ensure unit standards are met.
- Execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
- Provide continuous process support.
- Trouble shooting and rectify faults occurring due to failure of mechanical equipment.
- Continuously monitor the working environment responsible area and report any abnormalities found.
- Plant and equipment inspection and defect reporting
- Installation of equipment
- Physically monitor and control the production process.
- Examine equipment and complete safety checklist.
- Report all at risk behaviors and unsafe conditions to the line manager
- Comply to all OSH ACT requirements.
- Practice good housekeeping.
- Comment, discuss and improve upon task elements within the maintenance plan.
- Identify, report and action any irregularities within the manufacturing line.
- Perform standby duties according to roster.
- Perform daily inspection of all units and machinery in plant.
- Remove and replace defective equipment and machinery.
- Ensure that the mechanical equipment in the related section/s are well maintained and safe to operate.
- Conduct visual inspections on the process and equipment.

**Experience, Qualifications and other requirements specific to the role**
- Trade Tested
- 3-5 yrs experience in Food or FMCG industry
- At least 3 years experience in the maintenance of gearboxes, conveyors, and food processing equipment
- Artisan Minimum N3
- Physically able
- Take instructions / communicate in English
- Willing to make a contribution as a member of the operations team
- Ability to work shifts and overtime as and when operationally required
- Pneumatics/hydraulics
- Basic electricity will be an advantage.

Please note that these are outsourced positions so you will be employed by us as the agency and assigned to the client for the duration of your contract.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary

**Salary**: R122.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.50 per week
