**JOB DESCRIPTION: EDUBLOX DURBANVILLE PRINCIPAL**

**Context and Description**:
Edublox Durbanville’s is looking for an experienced primary school teacher to manage the school program and partake in strategic development. This is the ideal position for someone who has a passion for children experiencing learning challenges, wants to make a difference and wishes to work in a small and nurturing 'family' environment.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- **Teaching and Learning**:_
- A partial teaching role (to be agreed upon appointment).
- Curriculum development and planning support - Edublox Durbanville uses external CAPS-aligned assessments.
- Lesson Observations & Monitoring Teaching
- Encouraging and equipping teachers to plan and deliver engaging lessons where technology is optimized
- Resource Management
- Timetabling
- **Assessment**:_
- Assessment, moderation and reporting
- Results Analysis and designing/implementing Individual Support Plans
- Concessions
- Reporting results to the WCED
- **Staff Management**:_
- Staff Absences
- Weekly teacher meetings
- Teacher Performance Management and Professional Development
- **General**:_
- Promoting a culture where learners can feel safe, supported and understood
- Supporting teachers in establishing positive behaviour support practices
- Implementing, monitoring and updating school policies
- General communication with parents, supporting parent meetings where necessary, addressing parental concerns and complaints
- Learner Absences
- Attending School Board Meetings to present the School and partake in strategic planning
- Weekly feedback / planning meetings with the owner

**EXPECTATIONS**:

- **Qualifications**:_
- Qualified Primary School Teacher, SACE registered
- Desirable: English and/or Maths specialism
- Desirable: Remedial / Special Needs Qualification
- **Experience**:_
- Minimum 10 years' teaching experience at Primary School level
- Managerial experience at Primary School Level
- Must have experience teaching children with learning difficulties
- Desirable: experience in multi-grade teaching
- **Personal / Knowledge**:_
- A passion for teaching children who experience learning challenges
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Afrikaans
- Good knowledge of the CAPS curriculum at Primary School level
- Good understanding of learning challenges and adapting teaching practices to address these
- Deep understanding of emotional and behavioural development; positive teaching practices
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to motivate, inspire and foster accountability
- Good leadership skills; ability to lead by example
- Knowledge of developing and implementing policies and procedures
- Good computer skills

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R22 500,00 - R25 000,00 per month

**Education**:

- Bachelors (required)

**Experience**:

- Primary School Teaching: 10 years (required)

**Language**:

- English and Afrikaans fluently. (required)

License/Certification:

- Driver's License (required)
- Foundation Phase OR Intersen Teaching Qualification (required)

**Location**:

- Durbanville, Western Cape (preferred)
