In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focusses on retail porducts, as well as group schemes. What will you do?
Maintenance of financial controls to ensure the completeness & accuracy of transactions from the Policy Administration system
Preparation of month end journals
Monthly reconciliations between the Policy Administration System (FAFA) and the General Ledger
Liaising with heads of departments on an on-going basis and providing them with value adding information on their processes
Perform trend analysis and provide commentary on the income statement movement on commission to assist in continuous improvement on controls and reporting
Preparation of management account information with particular regard to the financial effects on commission expenses
Liaising with auditors and preparation of audit information
Analysing system data on a daily basis to identify trends or errors in the movement of system data
Make recommendations for fixes required to the system and system data
Adhoc duties as directed by the manager
Processing of system fixes within the target dates

Qualification & experience
B.Com. Accounting (or similar degree or diploma with financial accounting as a major) is essential.
Preferable 2 years’ experience in a similar capacity within Finance
Experience in the financial industry will be advantageous

Knowledge and skills
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel is essential.
Proficiency in Walker is preferable.
