Fleet Scheduler

**JOB PURPOSE.**
Responsible to supervise, manage and schedule all aspects relating to transporting of cargo for clients, which include, management of drivers as well as timeously communication with clients etc.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS.**
- Accountable for truck planning (re-planning) and allocations for your allocated area daily.
- Responsible for the daily communication with all clients to preparation, planning and booking of daily deliveries.
- Monitor progress of truckloads and enquire how many loads are still pending and outstanding daily.
- Timeously and accurate checking of the allocated offloading list daily (preferably 06h30)
- Timeously review of all available trucks to determine how many can be used for the day, and identify and communicate which trucks could be problematic.
- Timeously and accurately update fleet boards daily.
- Attend and provide necessary feedback at daily meetings.
- Accountable to supervise/and monitor Night shift staff.
- Follow up with allocated clients and sort out any problems that arose during the night.
- Ensure effective communication within the department regarding daily figures in cases of shorts/extras, to avoid any truck delays by substituting trucks where/if required.
- Responsible to conduct driver interviews daily.
- Assist with company disciplinary matters, by either investigating occurrences, initiating or testifying at/in a disciplinary inquiry if/when required (this includes testifying at bargaining council or CCMA).
**SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS.**
- Ability to organize, delegate and meet strict deadlines.
- Demonstrate high levels of quality, focus and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Strong Problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate - solid knowledge and understanding of Microsoft related programs.
- Bilingual (English & Afrikaans).
**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION.**
- National Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
- 2 years’ experience as a fleet scheduler/controller
- Previous experience in transport industry an added advantage
**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
Must be willing to work flexible hours
