Maintenance Superintendent for succession planning to Technical Maintenance or Maintenance Manager.

This position reports to the Engineering Executive.

Our client, a world-class manufacturer serving Africa's electrical, industrial and power utilities, has undertaken extensive work to modernise the plant, commissioning new equipment and approving major investments for expansion.

**Position details**:
Reports to: Engineering Executive

Primary purpose: Responsible for preventive maintenance of all machinery and equipment to reduce downtime; ensure safe and continuous operation of plant and equipment through electrical maintenance activities. Responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment and for the maintenance of various equipment and project installations in accordance with engineering practices and equipment specifications.

Job description / core competencies:
Responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting and repairing equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
Must maintain all equipment to required standards and respond to production requests and equipment failures.
Programming of PLC’s and control systems.
You will work as part of a team, but also routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety in the performance of your duties.
You attend to breakdowns and prioritize work. You will schedule and perform routine maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance on electrical & Instrumentation equipment in a professional, cost effective and timely manner.
Monitor and report on the condition of electrical, instrumentation and control systems of equipment to a high standard. Assist in the specifications, procurement and quality control of required/refurbished/repaired equipment.
Reading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine workflow.
Install stationary industrial machinery and electrical equipment. Inspect and test machinery and equipment to determine irregularities and malfunctions.
Adjust machines and repair or replace defective parts
Participate in all equipment maintenance program for continuous improvement of all machines.
Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance on machines.
Comply with workplace safety policies, rules and regulations.
Maintaining a clean and environmentally friendly work area.
Completing other related tasks as required. Ultimately, ensure all machines are operating at peak efficiency and our facilities remain safe.
On-call duties after hours and on weekends.

**Job Qualification & Experience**:
Minimum N3 Electrical Engineering Qualified Maintenance Electrician with passed Trade Test Recognised apprenticeship.
Basic electronics and instrumentation (sensors, counters and temp controllers)
Electrical wiring diagrams, 3 Phase and 1 Phase electrically driven machinery
Working knowledge of PLC (include Programming), AC and DC Drives.
Work with mínimal supervision.
Five years of relevant experience in the maintenance of large electrical systems.
Must have a solid electrical background and be able to troubleshoot accurately and quickly. Five years of relevant experience with PLC control systems and field control instrumentation is preferred.
Aptitude and awareness of measurement and control techniques is an asset: o Knowledge of appropriate measurement principles and practices.
Problem Solving. Failure analysis and reporting; technical acumen, communication skills, and excellent problem solving skills. Interpersonal and customer service skills to interact with people at all levels.
Setting priorities, meeting deadlines and achieving goals.
Project Management Skills.
Analytical thinker with good logical reasoning skills. Ability to work accurately and methodically with mínimal supervision.
