Job Profile

**Mission of Function**: To ensure continuous availability and reliability of production test equipment

**Areas of Responsibility / Tasks**

Production Factory Support
- Immediate response to production stoppages
- Diagnosis of production problems and corrective actions
- Overtime and standby support during periods of peak production

Subcontractor Support - Final Assembly and PCBA
- Monitoring of equipment performance
- Provide remote support and assistance when equipment fails or when equipment is performing poorly
- Providing onsite technical backup / advice where required
- Overtime and standby support during periods of peak production

Test Equipment (Hardware) - Final Assembly and PCBA
- Purchasing of components and spares
- Minor Hardware Development (Electrical & Mechanical)
- Building test equipment
- Commissioning test equipment

Test Equipment (Software) - Final Assembly and PCBA
- Minor Software Development using National Instruments LabView
- Diagnose production software problems and communicate to Production Engineers

Maintenance - Final Assembly and PCBA
- A maintenance schedule will be provided by either the Production Engineering Technical Supervisor or the responsible Production Engineer in the case of PCBA
- Maintenance to be completed as specified in the schedule and records filled in once completed

Line Setup & Changeover - Final Assembly and PCBA
- Setup of new production lines
- Changeover of production lines between products
- Setup of FA and PCBA test jigs at sub-contractors
- Moving of FA and PCBA test jigs between sub-contractors as required

Production Process Final Assembly
- Providing input during production process design and implementation
- Monitoring of production processes for quality and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to process instructions (draaiboeke)

Subcontractor Equipment Monitoring and Production Process Adherence
- Monitoring sub-contractor test equipment requirements in terms of capacity
- Provide feedback on
- Equipment status during site visits
- Correct usage or misuse of the production test equipment
- Adherence to the production process instructions
- Failure to adhere to processes or misuse of equipment should be reported via the relevant channel

Repairs, Quality Control and PPMS
- Provide technical support to Production Repair Line
- Provide technical support to Quality Control
- Provide technical support to PPMS (Prepayment Meter Services)

Workshop Responsibilities
- Looking after tools (own and team)
- Ensuring proper storage of test equipment when not in use.
- Maintain tidiness of workspace (own and team)

Experience

**Professional Experience**:

- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an electronic design or repair environment undergoing component level repairs, faultfinding or equivalent experience
- Experience in an electronic factory environment would be an advantage
- Exposure or experience with National Instruments Labview would be an advantage
- Demonstrated experience of test equipment design, construction and testing.

Authority:
The Production Engineering Technician is able to make decisions concerning the maintenance of all test equipment i.e. purchasing spares. He/she can authorise a line stop for jig related malfunction or product quality concerns. The Production Engineering Technician makes his/her own decisions regarding subcontractor support
