Diesel Fitter

**Job Duties/Responsibilities will include**:

- Operate all mechanical and electrical apparatuses and equipment when required.
- Ensure that shop machinery operates in accordance with safety regulations.
- Accurately set tappets in accordance with company’s standards, engine specifications and guidelines.
- Conduct efficient problem-solving exercises to address malfunctions of the engine and identify and report the cause of the malfunctions to the Foreman.
- Ensure compliance of all safety and hygiene standards and procedures, and report findings of incidents to the Foreman.
- Provide corrective action of deficiencies during maintenance, installation, and production projects.
- Manage and record stock of all raw materials used during fitting processes and report on variances.
- Monitor material costs, tool repairs cost of the fitting department.
- Supervise in conjunction with the Foreman, all jobs carried out are of the highest quality and are above company standards.
- Ensure hygiene and housekeeping procedures are adhered to.
- Ensure discipline is always maintained in the department.
- Promote and support a holistic working environment within the department.
- Qualified Diesel Fitter with a Trade Certificate.
- Minimum of 5years of experience within a diesel fitter capacity.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, on a supervisory level.
- Ability to maintain good interpersonal skills.
- Must have an analytical mindset and the ability to understand technical documentation such as design blueprints and instructional manuals.
- Ability to supervise systems and processes
- Sound knowledge of combustion, compression and other industry related testing procedures, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and the repair and maintenance thereof.
- Ability to implement and maintain safety and hygiene standards
- Strong attention to detail.
