Fitter Assistant

PURPOSE

Responsible for providing a good standard of mechanical service to production and other internal customers in terms of Quality, Quantity, Health, Safety and the Environment.

SPAN OF CONTROL

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & OUTPUTS

Production Management - Deep Focus
- Continuously monitor the working environment responsible area and report any abnormalities found
- Plant and equipment inspection and defect reporting
- Installation of equipment
- Conduct visual inspections on the process and equipment
- Responds immediately to equipment-related problems and installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs across all equipment in the business area to ensure mínimal downtime
- Collaborate across a team and must be willing to learn and share skills with fellow colleagues
- Maintains an organised, clean and safe work area
- Observes all safety guidelines, company rules and regulations, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) in the performance across outputs and deliverables
- Ensure the proper use of all tools in the workshop

Operational Planning - Curiosity
- Liaise with supervisors
- With contractors
- With fellow employees
- With all departments in the plant
- SHEQ department
- With all engineering departments

Reporting and Documentation
- Report to manager or artisan on any mechanical issues regarding potential breakdowns, spares, quality, projects, hazards, breakdowns, and maintenance
- Report all breakdowns, time taken, machine that was affected, what was done to get plant up and running

Safety, Health, Environment - We Tread Softly
- Ensure housekeeping is kept to **5S standards**:

- Ensure mechanical workshop areas is kept clean to maintain housekeeping standards.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Knowledge and skill
- 3-5 years working experience in a similar role
- Must be physically fit to work with weight of an average of +/-60 kgs
- Forklift Licence is an added advantage
- Ability to work on heights
- Ability to work in confined spaces due to operational requirements
- Ability to work in standing position for extended hours
- Must be comfortable working on elevated surfaces
- Must be flexible to working extended hours

QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12/Matric with Mathematics
- CTFL Learnership is advantageous
- Minimum of N3 Mechanical qualification is preferable
