Somerset West, South Africa Institute of Mine Seismology Full time

Permanent position in the Science & Technology sector at IMS in Somerset West (40km from Cape Town), Western Cape in South Africa. After 1 year, there would be the possibility of working out of our Australian office.

The position available is in our technology group, and would involve work on our visualisation and analysis software: from design of GUI's to development of algorithms used for analysis of seismic data recorded in mines around the world. Java and the NetBeans platform would be used. This role involves some customer interaction, presentations and training courses as well as some international travel.

Skills/qualifications required:

- Honours/MSc/PhD in Computer Science
- Aptitude and interest in scientific analysis and programming (any two low-level languages)
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) in English
- Some background in Maths/Physics/Applied Maths beneficial, but not essential
- South African citizenship
