Venetia is an open-pit mine and the country’s largest producer of diamonds. The mine is in Limpopo Province in the north east corner of South Africa. Currently, we’re mining two of the mine’s largest Kimberlite pipes in a single, open-pit operation. Open-pit mining is likely to run to 2018-2021 and preparations are already under way to convert to underground mining, which is expected to extend the life of the mine to 2046.

**Job Description**:

- It is responsible for the implementation, advice and updating of all the applicable industrial relations practices within the operations. The role needs to initiate appropriate intervention functions such as training, upgrading, trend analysis, and orientation to ensure legal compliance and effectiveness of the processes. This will assist with optimizing the performance of the organization and enhance the well-being of employee relations within the operations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Constantly review developments in the field to ensure effectiveness and alignment of systems and procedures to best practices.
- Ensure that systems and procedures are compliant with legislation.
- Advice management on the most appropriate cause of action when decision relates to function.
- Provide advice and interpretation to any stakeholder in so far as the function utilization and integration with other HR functions is concerned.
- Provide regular information to all stakeholders regarding use and trends specific to the function
- Regularly conduct function audits to ensure effectiveness and compliance

Develop and maintain relations
- Effective two way open communication with colleagues and stakeholders
- Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees
- Present the ER context at Supervisory Learnerships and/or relevant Venetia programs
- Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and plans
- Communicate effectively with organizations team
- Support the induction of new employees
- Interview potential new recruits
- Provide Guidance and ensure compliance with disciplinary and grievance inquiries
- Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications
- Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Industrial Relations
- Fairly manage cultural diversity
- Identify ideas to increase motivation and competencies
- Ensure competency of employees for the work required (through coaching HRBPs)

Contractor Management ER
- Manage relationship with Contractors on mine

**Qualifications
- QUALIFICATIONS**
- Relevant Degree or National Diploma
- Grade 12 Essential

**EXPERIENCE**

Experience statement should include reference to:

- At least 5 Years of ER (complexity 2) experience within the Mining industry will be advantageous
