- Specialized Knowledge in Chef / Culinary or related field would be beneficial
- 3 years’ work Experience would be beneficial

**Key Performance Areas**:
1.See to the overall organisation and neatness of the laboratories (3.100 and 3.95 and the large scale, and demonstration kitchens).
2.Ensure that the fridges and freezers in the laboratories and office are always clean, neat and fresh. Clean on a rotational basis.
3.Ensure overall neatness, cleanliness, and order of the large kitchen scale.
4.Clean out and remove the refuse from the dustbins every afternoon after the practicals, see that they are clean and place new black bags in the bins.
5.Sweep class after the students have left the venue and ensure that all work surfaces and stoves are clean.
6.Clean fresh vegetables and grate cheese as ingredients are delivered.
7.Clean out the larder and stock cupboards once a week.
8.Filter any oil used during the week and clean the deep fat fryers used.
9.Set up the trays for all the practicals with all the ingredients and equipment as set out on the order lists.
10.Be available during the practicals to assist lecturer/technician/students where necessary.
11.Return all ingredients to the larder, ingredients, cupboards, fridges, and freezers after the practical.
12.Arrange food after practicals on containers, wrap with plastic wrap and help to sell food.
13.Control ordered stock and bought for practicals in the larder and stock cupboards and ensure that necessary ingredientsare available for practicals.
14.Return and pack away leftover ingredients in the larder/fridges/freezers after practicals.
15.Be of assistance to the Technician in purchasing of ingredients, packing away shopping/deliveries in the appropriatestorage areas.
16.Report any fault or broken equipment needing repair to the Technician.
17.Keep a daily record of all broken equipment, or equipment/goods removed from the laboratories.
18.Help with the stock control of all equipment in the department twice a year.
19.Help with the preparation and cleaning up of various departmental/catering functions.
20.Assist the Technician when necessary with the purchasing of ingredients in the supermarket.
21.Prepare sandwiches/plates of biscuits when required.
22.Make dried breadcrumbs from any left over fresh bread.
23.Fetch a variety of herbs from the herb garden depending on the needs of the practical.
24.Help out in case of an emergency/crises/absence of a staff member when requested.
25.Full support to the Technician who is responsible for the organisation of the department is expected.
