**Role Summary**:
As a Machine Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of various types of machinery used in manufacturing processes. Your primary objective will be to ensure the smooth functioning of machines to optimize production output while adhering to safety and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

**Requirements**:

- Tertiary Qualification in fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or industrial maintenance.
- Maintenance technicians should have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and/or other relevant technical systems. Computer and Networking skills would be an advantage. This must include skills such as troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Prior experience in maintenance work is preferred. This could include experience gained through previous jobs, internships, apprenticeships, or vocational training programs.
- Maintenance work involves working with intricate systems and machinery, so attention to detail is crucial to ensure that repairs and maintenance tasks are performed accurately and safely.
- Maintenance technicians often need to communicate with other team members, supervisors, and external vendors or contractors. Customer Satisfaction skills and communication with the customer are essential. Clear verbal and written communication skills are important for effectively conveying information about maintenance tasks, issues, and solutions.
- Maintenance work can be physically demanding, requiring technicians to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in various positions and environments. Good physical stamina and dexterity are therefore advantageous.
- Maintenance technicians may encounter a wide range of equipment and systems, so the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and processes is valuable.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. This includes inspecting, cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts as necessary.
- Diagnose mechanical issues with machinery and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime. Utilize technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
- Set up machines for production runs according to specifications, including adjusting settings, installing tooling, and calibrating equipment for optimal performance.
- Monitor machine output to ensure products meet quality standards. Conduct regular inspections, make adjustments as needed, and collaborate with quality assurance personnel to address any deviations from specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others. Identify potential safety hazards associated with machinery and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance. Document machine settings, troubleshooting procedures, and any modifications made to ensure comprehensive maintenance history and facilitate future repairs.
- Provide guidance and training to machine operators on proper use, maintenance, and safety procedures. Support other team members as needed to optimize overall production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance machine reliability, efficiency, and productivity. Participate in discussions and initiatives aimed at implementing best practices and optimizing workflow.
