Workshop Manager, Steel Manufacturing

**Position details**:
: Permanent
Primary Purpose: To oversee the daily operations of the engineering manufacturing facility. Coordinating, planning and directing all the activities that is involved in the manufacturing process.

Set up of machinery and creating a safe working environment for our employees.

Manage the workflow in the workshop.

Ensure efficiency of the production process at all times.

Oversee and ensure the quality of produced equipment.

Establish production goals and implement a plan to reach set goals.

Ensure production stays on track.

Ensure that the latest rev Drawings are always issued and available.

Check drawings for any discrepancies and or mistakes and relay to draughting department.

Assure products meet not only the customers standard but to strive to better quality constantly.

Submit weekly production reports.

Analyse gathered production data and use this to optimise efficiency.

Ensure workers and equipment meet performance and safety requirements as set out in OHS act.

Manage bottle necks in the workshop flow.

Train employees in specific tasks and use of equipment were needed.

Support workers in their questions and concerns.

Delegate work and supervise staff.

Communicate HR issues to GM.

Making sure that housekeeping is up to date daily.

Schedule and manage machine break downs and maintenance.

Ensure time keeping of employees are correct and relayed on time.

**Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
Grade 12 / N3.

Boilermaker Trade certificate.

Computer Literate: MS Projects, Inventor, AutoCAD and MS Office (clear understanding).

Must have 5 years post trade tested experience with Engineering workshop environment experience.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Able to solve problems within agreed standards, policies, and procedures.

Team leadership and management skills.

Sound listening communication skills.

Self-motivated self-starter with high levels of initiative.

Able to make decisions within agreed parameters.

Job planning skills.

Valid driver’s license.
