**ABOUT THE ONE CAMPAIGN**

**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**

G20 Consultant will play a key role in advising and supporting high-level initiatives related to the G20's global policy agenda. They will work closely with government representatives, international organizations, private sector stakeholders, and think tanks to provide expertise on economic, financial, social, and environmental policies in line with G20 priorities. This position requires an in-depth understanding of global economic trends, diplomacy, South African government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies as well as policy formulation at the international level.

**ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Strategic Advice**
- Issue Analysis & Agenda Mapping: The consultant will analyze the G20's current processes priorities and align Africa's strategic goals with upcoming agenda items. Include mapping out which G20 working groups, summits, and side events are most relevant.
- Policy Positioning: The consultant will craft clear, persuasive positions on issues such as climate change, debt relief, global financial architecture
- Strategy Development: Develop a roadmap for how to approach influencing the G20, including timing, key decision-makers to target, and leverage points in the process.

**2. Networking & Advocacy**:

- Engagement with Stakeholders: The consultant will build and leverage networks of G20 country delegates, policymakers, and relevant influencers (e.g., international organizations, think tanks, and NGOs). This may include setting up meetings with key officials.
- Coalition Building: Identifying and engaging with like-minded organizations or countries to form coalitions that can collectively push for your goals. This is critical for amplifying influence in the G20 context.
- Diplomatic Outreach: Formal and informal outreach to diplomats and negotiators from G20 countries. This may also involve working with the Sherpas to ensure your issues get traction.

**3. Communication & Advocacy**:

- Briefing Papers & Policy Memos: The Consultant will provide well-researched, concise materials to support ONE/Africa's position. These could be used in direct advocacy with G20 policymakers or shared with the media.
- Media Strategy: The consultant will develop a media and communications strategy to build public momentum around your agenda, including op-eds, interviews, and social media campaigns.
- Talking Points & Speeches: Consultant will create compelling narratives for meetings, events, or panels which resonate with G20 advocacy agenda
- Increased Public and Political Awareness: Elevating the import of Africa leading the G20 and ONE's agenda in both the public domain and political discourse

**4. Monitoring & Impact Measurement**:

- Monitoring G20 Processes: Consultant will provide continuous updates on the progress of the G20 agenda and how your priorities are being received or debated. This may include tracking commitments made by member countries and following up to ensure accountability.
- Evaluation Reports: Periodic reports assessing how well your agenda is being advanced, where more work is needed, and any necessary strategy adjustments.

**5. Logistical Support**:

- Event Planning & Participation: The consultant will support in organizing or participating inside events, roundtables, or fringe activities at G20 meetings. These platforms can give additional visibility ONE's cause.
- Access to High-Level Forums: Consultant will ensure ONE's participation in key forums where G20 policymakers gather, such as business or civil society summits, and possibly arranging for direct interventions in the formal G20 process.

The consultant should be familiar with the G20's workings and be able to navigate the complex diplomatic and political environment effectively. Consultant should be based in South Africa.

**Qualities and Qualifications**
- Degree in Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in international policy, global economic analysis, or diplomacy.
- Proven track record working with international organizations, government bodies, or multilateral institutions, particularly in G20-related areas.
- Experience in managing complex, cross-border projects involving diverse stakeholders.
- previous experience working with G20-related organizations or on G20 initiatives.
- Familiarity with G20 policy areas such as climate change, global health, trade, and economic growth.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in languages spoken within G20 member states, an added bonus
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, able to navigate complex international environments.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive and strategic mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
