**Purpose of the job**:
The role of an engineering technician is to support the project team in achieving the contractual obligations for delivery to a client. First level system engineering activities, problem-solving and technical support is offered to accomplish the main tasks within the business unit. The technician completes tasks requested from the project team, under the supervision of the System Engineer which includes the development, building and integration of systems.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- System installations in buildings, vehicles, and shelters
- System support of GEW Systems in the EW Environment
- Support on system integration and testing
- Support in integration and configuration of computers systems
- Manage junior members and subcontractors that form part of the installation and support team

**Key technical skills and experience required**:

- Solid fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physical sciences, and general mechanical engineering concepts are to be mastered, expanded on and applied related to the individual’s qualification or area of expertise.
- Design and innovation skills are required and further enhanced with engineering tools, simulation, and rapid prototyping.
- A good understanding and implementation of engineering processes and review gates.
- A drive to obtain and expand specific product knowledge in the implementation of engineering solutions.
- Familiar with a broad spectrum of system-level manufacturing techniques and applicability.
- Functional performance and manufacturability.
- Applicable drawing standards for inputs to draughtsman.
- Precision assembly of system designs.
- Be willing to travel and work abroad.
- Be proficient with tools.
- Good judgement in terms of estimating workload, scheduling of tasks, etc.**Ideal experience required**:

- + 10 years’ experience on system and equipment installations/operation
- Experience in a product development environment
- Experience in working with analog and digital electronics and test equipment.
- Experience in understanding and doing RF measurements is a pre-requisite; IPC certification will be an advantage.**Ideal behavioural competencies required**:
