**Intensive Economic Strengthening (IES) Data Capturer**

The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) is a Durban-based NGO that acts as an interface between Donors and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) working in the HIV/AIDS sector by placing donor funds with strategically selected CBOs, in South Africa, and providing them with ongoing, technical support & capacity building.

**Purpose of job**:
The Data Capturer is a highly capable person to enhance the performance of REDCap database. He/she will be responsible for capturing data regularly on REDCap, supporting the technical team in terms of pulling IES data reports, and providing support during data validations. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring a clear data flow process is followed by mentors.

**Minimum requirements**:

- Matric Certification
- A minimum of two years as a data capturer
- Training in data management will be an added advantage
- Ability to create and capture data on basic MS Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to work with MS Access would be an advantage.
- Time management skills.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and within a team setting
- Valid South African driver’s license.
- Eligibility to work in South Africa

**Roles and responsibilities include**
- Transfer of data from Enrolment forms to REDCap database in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perusing data on Enrolment Forms to identify pertinent information.
- Informing relevant parties regarding errors encountered.
- Correcting errors and organising the information that will optimise swift and accurate capturing.
- Storing hard copies of data in an organised manner to optimise retrieval.
- Updating and capturing ES training registers on REDCap
- Capture ES Linkage information onto REDCap.
- Identify gaps REDCap and inform relevant parties.
- Ensures data capturing and compilation of reports from all field staff
- Responsible for maintenance, storage and backup of DREAMS data according to Standard Operating Procedure.
- Ensure the timely submission of MER standard Reports and other ad-hoc reports to DREAMS SIO.
- Work closely with the project team to develop site-level data analysis and presentation.
- Verifies the integrity of data provided by the program team by comparing with previously submitted records as per data validation SOP.
- Validates the quality of data captured by performing systems verifications and data validation routinely.
- Record the margin of error using data capture error log sheet to keep track of the files returned for verification.
- Performs data quality assurance and control measures and timely submission of reports
- Review and make necessary corrections to data entered while generating error reports for feedback
- Liaises with field data team for data verification and to provide relevant support and technical assistance
- Work closely with the technical team to perform many different administrative tasks such as word processing, filling out paperwork, and maintaining records and files.

**Oversight, communication, and coordination**
- Advise Strategic Information Officer and senior leadership on matters of concern and elements of risk regarding data.
- Collaborate with the SI Officer on performance results analysis, visualization, and reporting.
- Undertake periodic data-driven program reviews and troubleshooting as necessary
- Collaborate with SI Officer on closing of identified data irregularities and gaps

**Target tracking, progress review and reporting**
- Report on progress, issues, challenges, and local risk management.
- Compile routine and ad hoc reports for SIO.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual data progress reports.
- Work with the MER unit to track program implementation and routinely review, evaluate, and strengthen program implementation
- Undertake any other duties as assigned

**Job Type**: Temporary
Contract length: 8 months

**Salary**: R6,996.00 per month
