Horse Guide

**1.** **Main Responsibilities**
- Follow feeding, cleaning and water schedules.
- Sanitising and maintenance of tack/leatherwork and other equipment.
- Other day-to-day tasks such as mucking out, feeding, turning out/in, lunging and preparing horses for exercise including knowledge of tack requirements for each horse.
- Communicate with Vet, Farrier, dentist and Physio Co-ordinate preparation for guests.
- Ensure all tack and consumables requirements are noted and reported - monthly stocktake.
- Report any maintenance jobs to maintenance or Experiences Manager should tasks be out of groundsman’s job remit.
- Assist in basic horse care and yard maintenance as required
- Exercise horses daily.
- Washing & grooming of Horses daily
- Interact with guests and ensure exceptional outrides

**2.** **Organisational Responsibilities**
- To act professionally, courteously and effectively at all times
- To maintain effective and positive working relationships with staff, consultants, partner organisations, external organisations and farm guests
- To promote guest experience and its development activities and projects
- To develop and maintain policies, systems and procedures as appropriate
- To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required within the scope and level of the post
- To ensure the well-being of all horses on the yard to include monitoring of health.
- Act as First aider for the yard, undertake necessary training and renew as required.
- Maintain stock in all First aid boxes

**Experience Requirement**

**Working experience (Essential / Preferred)**
- Experience in horse grooming(E)
- Experience in guiding tours(P)

**Proven track record in the following areas of work**
- Problem solving (P)
- Attention to detail (P)
- Physical fitness(E)

**Qualification**

Matric

Guides have received formal training from the Department of labour and other recognised institutions.

5 years’ experience as horseback guide

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Pniel, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
