To successfully manage the execution of propagating research material for trial and hedge establishment at the research nursery as required by the annual plans of operations, observing strict compliance with Mondi SHE and governance processes.

EDUCATION

MIN EDUCATION REQUIRED:

- Senior Certificate

TERTIARY: ESSENTIAL
- Diploma in Forestry | Agriculture | Horticulture - essential
- B.Tech or B.Sc in Forestry | Agriculture | Horticulture - advantageous

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: DRIVERS LICENSE
- Code: B or C1 - essential
- Code: EB - desirable

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years in Forestry / Agricultural or Horticulture nursery propagation and environment production

RESPONSIBILITIES / KPAS:

- Ensure strict compliance with Mondi’s SHE and Governance procedures.
- Implement the best nursery protocols to suit optimal plant growth.
- Implement all necessary nursery hygiene protocols to ensure optimal plant health.
- Ensure completion of the propagation annual plan of operations with strict compliance with SHE procedures.
- Establish accurate and high-quality propagation data for the research team.
- Monitor and assess the environmental conditions in the nursery if they are suitable for good plant growth.
- Ensure the accurate capture of propagation research data.
- Ensure the accurate storage of propagation research data.
- Participate in safety meetings, implementation of safety directives, risk management initiatives, toolbox talks,

vehicle control, and the upholding of all other required safety standards as indicated in work procedure and instruction documents.- Perform weekend duty as required by management from time to time.

JOB COMPETENCIES / ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS - ESSENTIAL
- Experience in propagation systems and silviculture establishment.
- Good understanding of plant physiology and plant nutrition.
- Effective communication and scientific report writing skills.
- Competent in research methodology / experimental design.
- Statistical analysis and interpretation skills (SAS, R or Genstat).
- Leadership skills.
