Complement Recruitment are recruiting for an Occupational Health & Safety Manager from the Manufacturing sector (production, food and beverage / FMCG). The applicant must be in possession of a Completed GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) for this permanent position.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety / Related;
- A Completed GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) Non-Negotiable
- 8-10 years related experience managing the safety program in manufacturing
- Managing safety in a heavy-duty machinery & industrial environment as well as some food, beverage, FMCG, line and production operations
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

**Skills And Knowledge**:

- Strong organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to multitask are a must.
- HSE OHS - SAMTRAC/HIRA/NOSA/ISO etc Certifications
- Requirements of the OSH Act, National Environmental Management Act, COIDA etc
- Ability to be self-manage and multitask, Ability to follow directions, Ability to lead and manage the performance of others, Timeliness
- Manage accident/incident investigation documentation.
- Prepare and lead toolbox talks and collate related data for reporting
- Conduct Risk Assessments and prioritize
- Provide SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, required resources for corrective action.
- Attend meetings on behalf of the company’s SHEQ department
- Investigate the root cause of SHE SHEQ concerns put forward by staff members, customers, clients and contractors and report to the senior Manager.
- Participate and manage the investigations of incidents, accidents and near misses
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly SHE reports, statistics and presentations related to SHE performance
- Monitoring the implementation of safe working procedures, instructions and protocols at shop floor level
- Ensure effective safety communication at shop floor level with regards to inspections and emergency preparedness
- Report all problems and concerns immediately to senior management
- Ensure that a good standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times

**Duties**:
To serve as the OHS specialist in safety by carrying out procedures with the line and organization that effectively control accident and health exposures in the company and minimize risk. Responsible for providing guidance, awareness, and solutions to ensure safe and reliable operations while acting as a change leader, educator, advocate, consultant, and mentor for their location’s safety culture.
- Effectively motivate people to enlist needed cooperation in implementing effective safety programs; ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.
- Administer, direct and manage compliance with the company safety program and local incident prevention efforts to ensure company safety goals are met.
- Implement safety procedures and programs necessary to improve the safety program’s effectiveness.
- Delivers new hire employee safety orientations and safety training, monthly safety meetings, and annual safety updates to employees, supervisors, and plant management to support developed programs.
- Monitors adherence to safety program policies and procedures in the plant and reports discrepancies to plant management.
- Confers with production managers to assist in specific clarification of details associated with safety process.
- Coordinates safety information to inform management and production managers of new issues.
- Work with senior management to establish goals, metrics, and priorities for safety across the organization and manage the safety metrics.
- Leads continuous improvement and supports the implementation and maintenance of the safety guidelines as employed in the division.
- Works with management and production management to minimize lost time accidents and reportable accidents.
- Participates in and coordinates Safety Committees.
- Attends industry-specific meetings to discuss and update management on issues, concerns, trends, and enforcement actions arising in various geographic areas.
