**INSPECTOR
**LICHTENBURG (HEAD OFFICE)
**Purpose of the position**:
As an inspector, your primary responsibility is to ensure compliance with food law regulations (PPECB),
oversee ongoing administration inspections, and support the skills development program for all silos. Your role
is critical in maintaining the integrity and safety of our grain storage facilities, while also contributing to the
continuous improvement of our operations.
**Key responsibilities**:
**In this role, you will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
**Silo inspections**: Conducting thorough inspections of silos to ensure compliance with food laws, I
dentifying deficiencies, reporting on mechanical and structural issues, as well as following up with
corrective inspections**.
**PPECB audits**:Arranging and coordinating appointments with PPECB for three annual audits at silo
**Regular compliance inspections**:Performing regular inspections to ensure adherence to established
guidelines, work instructions, as well as NWK policies. Providing written and oral feedback to silo
management and the Silo Administration Manager regarding issues and recommendations.
**Food safety research**:Staying updated on food safety information and contributing to the annual
updating of our food safety system. Continuously reviewing work instructions based on audit questionnaire
procedures.
**Documentation and transaction management**:Ensuring all weighing bridge transactions are correctly
documented, comparing orders with actual purchase transactions, as well as verifying that debit notes are
appropriately signed and documented.
**Process improvement**:Collaborating with teams to develop recommendations for administrative criteria
and examining existing systems for potential improvements. Participating in the development of new
systems.
**Team collaboration**:Maintaining open communication with silo staff to address enquiries, providing
training, and assist in finding solutions to problems.
Guide, as well as new unit standards, in accordance with SAQA requirements. Acting as a moderator and
guiding silo managers trained as assessors.
**Occupational health and safety**: Ensuring that occupational health practices are being applied, including
the safe storage of fumigation chemicals on silo sites and the continuous skills development training of
employees.
**Work instructions**: Continuously updating existing work instructions and collaborating with regional
managers and the Operations Manager to develop new work instructions.
**INSPECTOR (part 2)
**Minimum requirements: **
A minimum of an NQF 6 or equivalent qualification.
At least five (5) years of experience in food law and the grain industry.
At least eight (8) years of office administration at a silo.
Must be registered as a pest control officer and have a P-registration number as governed by The
Fertilisers, Farm Feeds, Seeds and Remedies Act 36 of 1947.
Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English, demonstrating proficiency in spoken, written, and reading skills
in both languages
Familiarity with food law and occupational safety and health regulations.
Grading certificates for maize, sunflower, wheat, sorghum, soy, as well as dry beans.
Willingness to travel to various silos, ensuring that inspections and audits are conducted efficiently.
