MTN Group technology established a Cloud Centre of Excellence, responsible for a standardized cloud blueprint across the group. The CCOE is responsible for providing strategic oversight, policies, standards, guidelines, and governance. The Cloud Centre of Excellence drives forward the cloud maturity of MTN Group and accelerates cloud adoption by:

- Driving cloud momentum across the organization
- Developing reusable frameworks for cloud governance and cloud architecture
- Managing cloud knowledge and learning with our HR Partners
- Overseeing cloud usage and migrations
- Aligning cloud offerings to the larger organizational strategy

Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)
The Cloud Operations and Enablement role will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

- Establish, document and support the adoption of the cloud operations processes, standards, and governance model across ManCo, OpCos and other stakeholders
- Provide guidance to Opcos on setting up cloud operating model, operations integration, and tool selection
- Ensure cloud operations support model and processes adopted in Opco(s) is in alignment to the established CCOE reference standards; conduct reviews, identify issues, and determine root cause, and improve processes to prevent recurring issues
- Provide inputs into and review recommendations for continuous improvement in the design of operations processes, support model, tools, and governance
- Work cross functionally with other BUs (e.g. EBU), MTN platform businesses (e.g. Fintech) and other stakeholders to align cloud activities and deliverables
- Help with the contractual and operational aspects of MTN’s relationship with the selected cloud providers
- Support with cloud operations vendors contracts, support contracts, etc.
- Drive and govern onboarding activities for a new Opco (e.g. Cloud Readiness, Hyperscaler contracts, Cloud Managed Services contracts)
- Enable Opco(s) by supporting with guidance w.r.t. people, process and technology changes that are required to drive cloud readiness and maturity within the Opco(s)
- Ensure 3rd parties and vendors adhere to SLA for incidents and problems
- Establish efficient operational and escalation procedures and act as a senior escalation point for technical and non-technical issues related to cloud operations / cloud managed services
- Provide guidance to Opco(s) for establishing reporting metrics on performance, availability, and incidents/problem w.r.t. cloud
- Support all Cloud Centre of Excellence activities and liaise with its stakeholders to establish thought leadership and strategy towards value realisation (estimated value of the opportunity is multi-billion ZAR)
- Foster innovation together with the strategic partners and evolve the CCOE strategy based on their new features/innovation roadmap

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education:

- Minimum 4-year relevant Academic Degree with Honours (B Eng / BSc Degree Preferred)
- MBA / Masters advantageous
- English (French and/or Arabic advantageous)
- Relevant certification/accreditation/membership with professional body as required for role (e.g. ITIL v4, AZ-900: Azure Fundamentals, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator etc.)

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 10 years’ of overall experience in IT operations team
- Manager track record of 5 years or more
- Minimum 3 years’ of relevant sector/industry/area of specialisation (e.g. relevant consulting or industry experience and large scale, enterprise-class consulting or systems integration experience)
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and related concepts on the public cloud.
- Familiarity with Azure and GCP cloud environments
- Working knowledge / Hands-on experience of cloud service management processes and guidelines, such as Incident, Problem and Change Management
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code automation tools/platforms (e.g. AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack) and software configuration and release management tools such as GitHub
- Experience in RFP management and executive presentation.
- Self-starter with in-depth hands-on work experience with large-scale implementations of public cloud platforms
