Production Controller

A position has opened up for a pro-active, energetic Production Controller to add value to ThoroughTec’s Manufacturing team, and to assist in meeting company and financial objectives. This forward-thinking individual will be responsible for the planning, loading, coordinating and successful execution of all production and/or R&D projects allocated to him or her. The incumbent will be required to work closely with many other managers to plan and coordinate all manufacturing tasks, including kitting and completion forecasts, and will report directly to the VP Manufacturing.

Production control refers to the methodical planning, coordinating and controlling of activities along a production or assembly line. Production controllers perform these functions, usually with a focus on ensuring a timely and cost-effective process, that produces goods of exceptional quality.

**Responsibilities and Core Duties**:

- Request and review data packs (drawings and item lists), in order to distribute work internally, or to outsource the work to approved suppliers where required
- Compile bill of materials (BoM) for each product to be manufactured, and ensure that the BoMs are always correct and updated as far as possible
- Upon completion of any project, the BoM must be officially configured for future use
- Complete and submit purchase requests for all projects items to be purchased from approved suppliers (off-the-shelf items)
- Regularly follow up with, and confirm delivery dates, of all project items purchased from approved suppliers
- Check in with Goods Receiving and Quality Control twice daily, to clear all project items received to Stores for kitting
- Build solid working relationships with existing suppliers, communicate regularly, and identify and engage any potential new suppliers
- Perform regular audits on project kits in Stores, and ensure kitting lists indicate the expected delivery dates of all outstanding items
- Assist ThoroughTec Stores to improve inventory control and kitting techniques, to avoid shortages and excesses
- Pre-empt any project delays and communicate these risks immediately to the VP Manufacturing
- Regularly liaise and coordinate with other internal managers to determine and monitor progress of work, completion dates and identification of risk items that will cause unnecessary delays to the project
- Control and limit production costs where possible, while maintaining ThoroughTec’s high quality standards

**Minimum Requirements, Skills & Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3 years in a production control/planning role
- A technical or mechanical qualification/certification, or a project/supply chain management qualification/certification
- Experience in a niche manufacturing environment will be advantageous
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal, written, telephonic)
- Time management and a sense of urgency
- Strict self-discipline and able to work independently
- Ability to solve complex problems through logic and reasoning, and to identify alternative solutions where required
- Service orientated and always actively looking for ways to assist team members and departments
- Must be adaptable and flexible, while remaining positive, in order to adapt to considerable variety in the role
- Attention to detail and thoroughness is critical - any small error or oversight can result in massive project delays
- Must be reliable, responsible and dependable
- Must be honest and ethical
