Silo Manager

We have a position available for a Silo Manager in Potchefstroom.

To qualify for this position, you will require: National Senior Certificates. All relevant grading and fumigation certificates. 3 to 5 years of experience in the Grain industry with a focus on grain handling and storage. Knowledge of SAP system. Financial and inventory management. Great leadership, coaching, negotiation and mentoring skills.

The duties expected of the successful applicant are as follows but not limited to: Responsible for the handling of grain: Ensure operational efficiency of silo and manage contingency plan. Ensure the calibration of grading equipment and measuring equipment. Oversee the sample taking process and ensure the grading of grain according to statutory requirements and intervene in the event of disputes. Plan the dispatch process to ensure the quality and availability of grain.

Responsible for the storage of grain: Planning and allocating of storage capacity according to crop estimation information. Drying, aeration and fumigation of grain. Ensure consistent quality of grain. Ensure silo hygiene according to HACCP and worksite procedures. Manage stock measurements.

Responsible for the optimisation of grain: Identify opportunities for value adding within grading criteria. Optimizing and overseeing grain process to achieve value adding objectives and minimize risk.

Grow market share in grain industry: Conduct regular Market Analysis to determine tendencies and movements in markets and align Grain Industry Actions/plans to optimize business results. Determine and implement marketing actions in support of existing grain facilities based on crop estimates and predicted market movements. Identify opportunities to optimize business in external areas and prepare recommendations for Manager of Operations. Determine facility needs for new business opportunities and coordinate with advisors to design facilities and to plan the CAPEX needs.

Liaise with Clients: Maintain sound business relations with clients. Attend and resolve client queries.

Manage silo according to department business plan: Interpret Company silo operations business plan and strategy. Compile workplace business plan in alignment with Company silo operations strategy. Evaluate performance against plan at least quarterly. Manage and develop staff. Manage silo finance by compiling, monitoring and managing the budget.

Basic Salary on offer ranges from R 35 000.00 to R 45 000.00 with benefits to be discussed.
