The College of Health Sciences seeks to appoint [3] Sessional Student Counsellors on a 5-year contract
basis. The incumbent will be required to promote positive mental health and facilitate the holistic
development, and emotional well-being of the College of Health Sciences students, through the
provision of assessment, individual and group counselling/therapy, wellness programmes, skills
development, and referral services. The posts are based at the respective Hospitals Decentralized
Clinical Training Platforms, viz, Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle, Madadeni and Port Shepstone.

**Minimum requirements**:
1. Relevant coursework Master's degree in Psychology (Counselling, Clinical, Educational) or

coursework Master's degree in Social Work with specialisation in the field of Clinical Social Work.

2. Current professional registration as an independent practitioner with the HPCSA/SACSSP.

3. Two (2) years of post-registration, relevant experience as an independent practitioner.

4. Must have time available to offer services for 15 hours per week, at a minimum of 3 hours per
day.

5. Must have flexibility to offer the contracted hours of service in the working day, afternoons,
evenings or weekends.

6. Services must be offered face to face at the respective DCTP site.
