Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan 30km east from Pretoria.

**ROLE DESCRIPTION**:Reporting to the Engineering Foreman Control and Instrumentation, the role will be responsible for the
equipment within the control and instrumentation (C & I) discipline.

*TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- *

- Responsible for the safe installation and maintenance of radiation equipment where applicable.
- Install and maintain networks and instrumentation and do fault finding on the hardware and software level.
- Assist Foreman in executing his/his duties as and when required.
- Carry out repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance work on all C & I equipment and related control systems to
comply with product technical specifications and deliver production objectives.
- Attend to the relevant administrative functions, such as:

- C&I documentation upkeep.
- Compiling procurement specifications.
- Ordering spares according to departmental procedure.
- Execute C & I projects in line with accepted project management principles to enhance, improve and optimise operations.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the Diamond Recovery machines.
- Continuously analyse equipment efficiencies to recommend or implementing improvements and changes to maximise
operations.
- Co-ordinate and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production parameters.
- Co-ordinate the monitoring, installation, service and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments and control systems.
- Monitor the implementation of new equipment and systems, taking specifications in consideration.
- Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns to determine resource requirements.
- Perform standby duties and attend to breakdowns.
- Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non
compliance issues.
- Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Vision and Values. Manage and report on non compliance issues.
- Perform risk assessments (Mini) and participates in risk assessments (Activity based). Plan task observations.
- Provide Input to risk assessments, safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations, monitor, train and implement all
codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments and standards and ensure all are in place for the effective
management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and effective / sound communication systems within the Engineering
Function and operation..

*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- *
N6 in Electrical Engineering Light Current or Instrumentation and Process Control obtained via TVET / Technical College AND
Trade Test certificate (Instrument and Process Control or Instrument Mechanician**)***
*OR
- *
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or Instrumentation and Process Control obtained via University of
Technology
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in the Control and Instrumentation discipline***
Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite***
Valid Drivers’ License**

*ADVANTAGEOUS:

Experience and knowledge in PLC and SCADA software development and Network Equipment.***
Sound knowledge of X-Ray Diamond Recovery Machines (Bourevestnik X-Ray Machines)
- Sound Knowledge of Siemens Simatic S7 TIA Portal
- Sound Knowledge of Industrial Instrumentation
- Knowledge of WINCC SCADA Software configuration

*OTHER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

- *
Read, interpret, and maintain instrumentation drawings.
- Install and maintain process instruments and control elements.
- Calibrate process instruments.
- Perform advanced fault finding and repairs.
- Fault finding on PLC and SCADA systems and networks.
