Airfreight Manager

he primary purpose of this role is to plan and manage Airfreight exports by directing, optimizing and overseeing operations to ensure effective and efficient distribution.

Key Performance Outputs
- Exploring the most direct and efficient air carriers available to various markets
- Negotiating competitive rates
- Maintaining rate sheet for commercial including local, freight and destination charges
- Revising SLA’s and SOP’s for Service Providers
- Forecasting, benchmarking, mandates, import operations and claims management form and essential part of this role and previous experience in these aspects are essential
- Building interpersonal relationships with external stakeholders (face-to-face visits & interaction)
- IFS compliance for service providers
- Request and maintain Block Bookings
- Managing additional space requirements
- Staying on top of airline schedule and routing changes
- Create Purchase orders for all shipments costs
- Creditor invoices checking, resolving discrepancies and sign-off
- Monitoring all bookings and cancelling within the recommended time frame
- Shipment processing stand-in on alternate weekends and when necessary
- Monitoring the status of shipments and advising if there are any delays/offloads

**Requirements**:
Minimum Education / Qualification/Experience
- Senior certificate / grade 12 / matric
- Suitable tertiary qualification
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in Airfreight with experience in Sea Freight and working in a Perishable Industry, including exposure to rates negotiations, order management, advanced knowledge of airline routes and schedules

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Paarl, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
