Microbiologist

**Job Summary**:
The Microbiologist Research Scientist will oversee all aspects of laboratory duties, ensures quality management and execute the daily task of the laboratory, contribute to research development and assist in scope accreditation of laboratories.
- **Supervisory Responsibilities**:_
- Coordinate training and coaching of the laboratory staff
- Coordinate and supervise the work of the laboratory staff
- Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods
- **Duties/Responsibilities**:_
- Ensure accurate laboratory analysis techniques in compliance with Heineken laboratory standards.
- Maintain laboratory analysis testing to conform to sampling plan.
- Ensure timely laboratory analysis and reporting to ensure no delays to production.
- Maintain laboratory information systems.
- Conduct laboratory audits as outlined by LSS. Ensure audits carried out by others comply with Laboratory Start System.
- Ensure CTA Laboratory achieves and maintains LSS Level 2 certification.
- Must follow and maintain requirements and procedures as laid down in the Quality system (LSS, ISO 9000, ISO 22000).
- Maintain analytical testing equipment and facilities to comply with Heineken standards.
- Ensure calibration schedules are kept to schedule.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory best practices.
- Maintain calibration schedules for production laboratories.
- Maintenance and Calibration of Laboratory equipment per schedule on ARMS
- **Education and Experience**:_
- A MSc/PHD/ Honorary degree either in chemistry or microbiology sciences.
- A valid registration with South African Council for natural science professionals (SACNASP)
- Must have demonstrable competency in the laboratory pharmaceutical research sterile lab environment handling specialized cell lines, microbes, chemicals and equipment.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience with the use and troubleshooting of highly specialized laboratory industry instruments and food testing.
- Knowledge on of Quality Standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 : Quality Management systems
- Knowledge of various testing methods and quality analysis.

**Job Type**: Temp to perm
Contract length: 18 months

**Salary**: From R30,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Pretoria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (preferred)
