Assist in drafting, reviewing and providing input to NPS-related policies, regulations, legislation, frameworks, practices, procedures and the licensing of payment institutions to ensure an appropriately regulated NPS.
- Assist with the coordination and administration of policy and regulation dialogues, and assist in the establishment and administration of necessary committees.
- Proactively identify and analyse NPS risks, and report these to management.
- Contribute to domestic policy and regulatory forums.
- Provide training and communication on NPS policy and regulatory matters, where required.
- Conduct research to keep abreast of policy and regulatory developments and best practice.
- Perform administrative and secretariat tasks in support of management and specialists, including preparing programmes, taking minutes and writing letters to industry participants.
- Analyse and report on trends based on industry statistical information.
- Perform ad hoc duties, and participate in projects as and when required.
- Represent the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) on payment system stakeholder forums, where required.
- Coordinate the completion and responses to surveys and questionnaires.
- Request information from standard-setting bodies, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders.
- Collect, collate and provide input into the annual National Payment System Department Regulatory and Oversight report.
Job Requirements

- a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics or Law, or equivalent qualification; and
- a minimum of two years’ experience in the policy and regulatory environment.

Additional requirements include:

- sound knowledge of the payment regulatory environment;
- a working understanding of the NPS;
- sound knowledge of research methodologies;
- proven facilitation and presentation skills;
- experience in project management and risk management;
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written); and
- proficiency in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office products.
