**_ Position Purpose:_**
To develop, implement and manage Transnet sustainability strategy & framework that assists the Company to improve
social, economic and environmental outcomes and, strengthen Transnet’s Social License to Operate.
**_Position outputs:_**
- Develop the Transnet-wide Sustainability vision, strategy and related policies and position statements.
- Develop and implement a Sustainability Management Framework (including governance structure) to enable the effective
delivery of the Transnet sustainability strategy.
- Address Sustainability related operational risks and opportunities by implementing a structured and efficient approach to
sustainability.
- Establish and lead Sustainability Working Groups in the development of strategy, policies, positions and action plans to
ensure alignment of sustainability strategy and adoption of sustainability best practices across Transnet. Eg SDGs
- Conduct periodic sustainability materiality assessments with internal and external stakeholders to determine the key
sustainability topics for Transnet, monitor the continued relevance and materiality of sustainability indicators.
- Research and input information internally on current and emerging sustainability trends as they relate to Transnet.
- Participate in appropriate sustainability stakeholder engagements, roundtables, forums and strategic conferences.
- Facilitate development of Transnet Sustainability goals, targets and establish the correct KPIs to measure performance
against goals
- Direct and facilitate scenario and sustainability risk assessment and analyses to inform sustainability strategies and
identify opportunities for the most value creating strategies.
- In collaboration with Sustainability Champions, develop road maps for each operating division to attain the sustainability
goals in support of the Group’s sustainability strategy and metrics
- Embed Sustainability strategy by supporting operating divisions in developing Sustainability plans, KPIs and quarterly
reporting templates aligned to Group Sustainability Strategy, Framework and Policies.
- I dentify and drive sustainability flagship projects and compile and evaluate business cases and project investment
proposals related to the sustainability strategies.
- Report to the internal and external Sustainability Structures and, Group Exco, Board (where required) on Transnet’s
material sustainability risks and measures to mitigate the risks.
**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- B degree in Social Sciences / Political Science / Economics / Sustainable Development/Environmental Management or
equivalent relevant qualification
- At least 10 years Sustainability experience
- Trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
- Standard Job Requirements:
