company offers a comprehensive range of products, systems and services across defence and civil markets, from spectrum dominance, optronics and radar, to IFF, datalinks and integrated security solutions. With more than 800 South African employees across three sites in South Africa, it is the largest industrial base outside of Europe and one of the largest defence and security electronics companies in South Africa.

**Purpose of the job**:
To create a data pack for the manufacturing and building of PCB’s and looms. Electronic draughtsmen collaborate with engineers to receive inputs and resolve design issues. Evaluate requirements to provide costs estimates and ensure that plans meet the customer requirements.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- TASK PLANNING AND CONTRACTING
- Obtain written inputs, specifications and requirements from engineering colleagues, System Engineers, and Project Managers for work to be executed according to ZA0105-MAN.
- Define and finalise the scope of work in collaboration with co-workers and present a personal detail Activities Plan, cost budgets, outputs and deliverables, and a risk assessment for work to be accomplished with ZOSA0107. Obtain approval (sign-off) by Line Manager, Subsystem engineer, Project Manager and System Engineer
- Understand the DR&T Design Philosophy and Processes.
- Primarily responsible for execution of the agreed Activities Plan, Activities & Outputs and to report any deviation on authorised work to sub-system engineer, PM, SE and Line Manager.
- 2. DESIGN PCB ASSEMBLIES AND PROVIDE PRINTS OF THE PROPOSED PCB ASSEMBLIES
- Create library models for the new components from the data sheets received from the Engineers.
- Capture the schematic on computer using Altium Designer in accordance with ZA0054-PRO.
- Transfer the schematic to a PCB and do the preliminary placement of the critical components.
- Ensure that the schematics and preliminary placement of the critical components are reviewed and approved by the design authority and implement any changes arising from the design review.
- 3. CREATE A 3-DIMENSIONAL MODEL OF THE PCB
- Route the connections according to the rules provided by the designer.
- Route the connections according to the rules provided by the designer.
- Compile a Bill of Materials to be included in the Data Pack.
- Produce a 3-dimensional model of the PCB and send it to the Mechanical Engineers for verification.
- Participate in a design review.
- ENSURE READINESS FOR SING-OFF OF THE DRAWINGS FOR THE DATA PACK
- Finalise the schematic, drill drawing and file, assembly drawing, Pick ‘n Place File and Gerber files.
- Present the drawings for the data pack to the design authority for approval.
- Resolve any queries or problems related to the manufacture and assembly of PCB’s.
- Submit a data pack to Configuration control, indicating the readiness of the PCBs for manufacture.
