Our client is searching for an experienced Buyer who comes with experience with footwear, clothing or accessories. The Buyer will plan and select the range, type and quantity of products according to customer demand, trends, store policy and budget. They will source new and review existing merchandise to ensure products remain competitive. By fully understanding customer needs, they will be required to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices

**Key Performance Areas**:
Consistently review the performance indicators across product portfolio.

Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and source new suppliers for future products

Develop proactive plans that address product performance issues and action accordingly in collaboration with planner

Drive current trade through reaction and agility to ensure that planned sales are met

Build strong vendor relations and put together solid business plans, including strong and detailed promotional programs

Liaise with other departments within the organisation to ensure project completion

Monitor and manage delivery schedules

Analyse consumer buying patterns and predict future trends

Attending trade fairs abroad, to select and assemble a new collection of products

Visit stores and suppliers locally

Participate in promotional activities as agreed with Marketing Manager

Analysis of sales figures.

Compile & present post-mortem on trade reports

Train and mentor support staff

Manage junior staff

Ensure internal product management and maintenance

Maintenance of inventory

Experience and understanding of import merchandising, supply chain and forex costing models is essential

Liaising with stores about sales performance and merchandise feedback

**Requirements**:
Senior certificate at NQF level 4 or equivalent qualification

Minimum of 5 years in retail buying experience preferably as a footwear buyer at a leading retail chain or retail supplier/ importer of footwear

Experience in Import Purchasing

Experience and understanding of import merchandising, supply chain and forex costing models is essential

Out of the box ways to solve problems and address difficulties

Good Business Acumen - a good understanding of the business environment and the impact their behaviour has on the reputation of the company

Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills

Ability to work both independently and within a team

Attention to detail
