**Underwriter**

**THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDES**:

- Responsible for the overall underwriting processes.
- Timeous attendance to internal and external queries.
- Timeous follow through of quotes.
- Timeous processing of renewals and sending relevant documentation to client.
- General reporting and servicing of clients.
- Provide full administrative backup to the broker.
- Quality control.
- Identification of corrective action on renewals, endorsement etc.
- Policy endorsement and processing thereof on system.
- Attending to policy queries with insurers and clients.
- General administrative duties.
- Ensure strict SLA’s are adhered to in terms of turnaround time.
- Providing quotes on existing policies.
- Maintaining daily diary.
- Load new policies.
- Provide qualitative service levels to internal and external clients.

**THE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR**:

- Matric/Grade 12 is a minimum requirement.
- RE5 (advantageous).
- Minimum NQF 4 qualification (advantageous).
- Working knowledge and understanding of statutory and legislative requirements, e.g., short-term Insurance Act/FAIS/Fit and Proper etc (advantageous).
- 3 years or more experience as an Underwriter.
- 3 years or more in the short-term insurance industry.
- Must have both domestic and commercial experience.

**THE COMPETENCIES WE REQUIRE ARE**:

- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite with excellent Outlook, Excel, and Word skills.
- Proficiency in working with insurance systems.
- Proficiency in the relevant legislative knowledge.

**This job is based in Pietermaritzburg, KZN.**
