**Job Purpose**:
The Ramp Agent role is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the correct loading and offloading of the Airline aircraft by all vendors associated to ensure the highest possible standard of service delivered by vendors to the airline. The role is also responsible for the safety of the aircraft and other stakeholders around the aircraft during a turnaround process.

The incumbent of this role further accurately records all areas of service deficiency and service level non-compliance by service providers, enabling accountable airline departments to take immediate and effective remedial action to ensure the customer's needs are constantly met.

Lastly, as part of the GOCC team, the role will be required to support the optimization of the Airline’s On time performance

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Demonstrates an understanding of the GOCC’s strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
- Implements department strategy within own area of responsibility
- Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the departmental strategy and action plans
- Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
- Applies cost saving initiatives continuously
- Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
- Ensure co-ordination of all activities on the airside and play an active part in making the customers experience seamless
- Proactively safeguard the airline aircraft and equipment
- Facilitate relevant communication between stakeholders regarding the Airline service level standards to safe guard all customer interests
- Report any defective or unserviceable equipment immediately
- Proactively safeguard SAA aircraft and equipment
- Ensure operational efficiency by enforcing all internal and external vendors to comply with all service levels standards safety and operational procedures
- Actively track progress against action plans and flag any risks that may impact operations
- Assess the impact of irregular operations and advise possible solutions to minimise impact on SAA schedule
- Facilitate boarding and assist with double seating and seat changes on-board the flight
- Ensure the boarding staff perform excess hand luggage duties at the aircraft
- Co-ordinate baggage reconciliation, loading and off-loading and record any irregularities
- Monitor all aspects of the flight handling process and determine service failure and delays information
- Enforce compliance to loading and offloading instructions
- Reconcile final passenger figures with loaded meals and cross reference
- Obtain boarding clearance from the Senior Cabin Crew
- Record incidents and accidents above and below the wing
- Report any defective or unserviceable equipment immediately
- Check service provider readiness in line the precision time schedule
- Ensure the offloading process begins immediately and the steps or chute are positioned in the correct position and at the correct door
- Minimise the impact of irregular operations and procedures on the daily schedule
- To be the voice and eyes of the company on the ramp by rendering a professional and timeous service
- Communicate via OCC in case the is a sick or injured passenger for medical staff to be called
- Make sure that the aircraft cabin is properly cleaned and it is dressed according to SLA
- Organise PAU/WCHR for passengers in case of late request
- Ensure serviceable Ground Power or Chute Power is serviceable
- Collect Ground Power Unit or Chute Power
- Read voltage supplied by Ground Power Unit or Chute Power if compatible to the aircraft
- Disconnect Ground Power Unit or Chute Power
- Secure Ground Power unit or Chute Power cable Answer customer queries on-board regarding reservations, seats and tarmac transfers
- Perform pre-departure checks (PDC) including critical safety
- Coordinate safe engine start and aircraft push back
- Report any observed damage to the crew, technical and OCC
- Inspect the area should an air starter unit be required during engine start up pre and post departure
- Inspect nose gear for signs of damage, unremoved ground lock pins and FOD; inspect main under carriage landing gear for unremoved chocks, signs of damage, unremoved down lock pins and FOD
- Ensure the aircraft nose gear is correctly disabled (correct by-pass pin, steering switch or torque link disengaged and hydraulic depressurised by crew), any down lock pins found must be removed and reported immediately
- Ensure tow-bar is securely connected to the nose gear and securely connected to the tractor, ensure that the tow-bar wheels are raised to clear the ground during pushback
- Ensure that the passenger/ service doors are free from damage and closed fully closed with handles correctly stowed away; ensure that all cargo hold doors including any vents are fully closed and check for any damage if damaged, report to the crew and technical before push
- Check all service panel latches to be fully fastened and fasten if not
- Check and inspec
