An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance / Refrigeration Artisan Assistant at I&J, ACS, Cape Town. The purpose of this role is to assist in all the maintenance related tasks of the cold chain at ACS and maintain standards according to SABS code of practice and assist with all engineering functions

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Plant Maintenance Attends to daily maintenance meetings.
Ensures cold room temperature recording equipment is functional, reports faults to Senior Technician.
Attends to conveyor faults and reports to Senior Technician.
Attends to mobile racking faults together with maintenance artisan and reports to Senior Technician. Attends to cold room faults and reports to Senior Technician
Logs monthly safety registers of mechanical, electrical, loose tools and equipment.
Conduct daily inspections of the plant room, condensers and valve assemblies.
Maintains workshop, plant room and engineering store in a safe, tidy and clean condition according to regulations.
Daily visual inspections of plant, equipment, cold rooms and buildings.
Attends daily maintenance meetings.
Discusses break-downs and problems and corrective action required
Ensures cold room temperature recording equipment is functional, reports faults to Senior Technician.
Checks pens, paper recording rolls, rimes and calibration.
Attends to preventative maintenance and servicing plan tasks.
Assist with services and checks compressors, condensers, safety switches, vee belts, float switches, valves, pumps and oil separators, accumulators and receiver.
Reports any faults or problems to Senior Technician for the ordering of spares.
Checks and assist maintenance artisan with repairs on all conveyors.
Lubricate all bearings and check/top up oil when needed.
Checks solenoid coils, ice defrosting, drains, drip trays, heaters and fans.
Checks plant operating pressures and record in the logbook.
Checks ammonia operating levels.
Attends to conveyor faults and reports to Senior Technician.
Be able to work overtime on weekends and public holidays when required.
Remove ice build-up from evaporator coils and valve assemblies.
Conduct manual defrosts when required.
Cleans Safety equipment and ensure it is accessible at all times.
Record cold room temperatures in plant room logbook (Three times a day)
Drain the oil out of oil pots in plant room when required.
Conduct daily inspections of the plant room, condensers and valve assemblies.

**Experience Required**:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Maintenance / Refrigeration environment
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of repairing and servicing of roller conveyors within -22 degree Celsius environment
Minimum of 1 year experience of working on mobile racking within -22 degree Celsius environment
Minimum of 1 year experience in maintaining painting requirements in a warehouse environment

**Minimum Qualification Required**:
Grade 12
