Imports Controller

Our **Clearing and Forwarding Client** is currently looking for an **Imports Controller (Sea and Air) ** based in **Observatory, Cape Town**

This position works with a majority Sea and Air shipment with a mixture of courier and road freight in-between

**Education and Experience**
- Matric/ Grade12 /Customs Clearing / Freight Forwarding related qualification ( Advantage)
- Minimum 3 years Imports experience - Sea, Air freight industry experience
- Experience with Shipshape

Salary Range**:R15’000 to R20’000 depending on experience**

**An Import Freight Controller must be able to perform the following specific functional responsibilities**:
**Be able to generate/interpret a quotation, including the following specific items/terms**
- What are the terms of the consignment - ex Works, FOB, CIF, C&F?, and what this means for the shipment
- Who is the carrier (shipping line/airline)?
- Who is the agent?
- Identify who the consignee is
- Correctly identify what charges will be applicable based on the INCO Terms
- Know which party will be responsible for which charges per INCO Terms
- Be able to request a rate from a carrier, groupage operator, overseas agent
- Have a good knowledge of the freight rates
- Have a good knowledge of Clearing's rates spreadsheet

**Be able to manage the full end-to-end process of a forwarding file incl**:

- Know the value chain of a forwarding shipment
- Know the internal role players in the Clearing value chain, and who is responsible for what
- Be able to register the shipment on ShipShape
- Liaise with the overseas agent regarding: Collection, Export Formalities, Freight Charges, Other requirements
- Be able to capture the necessary information into ShipShape
- Be able to advise the consignee of the milestone dates of the consignment
- Follow up with the relevant parties to track the consignment
- Be able to calculate and record all charges relating to the shipment

**Salary**: R15,000.00 - R20,000.00 per month
