Weaving Shift Foreman

PURPOSE:
To ensure the shift is run efficiently & any issues are addressed. To ensure each loom is adjusted to weave any article effectively & to ensure that each loom is running at optimum performance throughout the shift.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Productivity
- Ensure 1st line & preventive maintenance is conducted to minimise downtime
- Ensure article changes are effectively carried out to ensure that the looms are set up
correctly, run efficiently & produce according to customer specification
- Ensure looms are properly tuned so they run as efficiently as possible with mínimal rejects & waste
- Coordinate shift activities to ensure that targets are met & standards maintained
- Work with the Weaving Technician to minimise unplanned downtime due to breakdowns
- Conduct root cause analysis of recurring faults to minimise downtime & costs
- Perform shift handover to ensure effective communication & continuity from shift to shift
- Complete required documentation for reporting purposes
Quality
- Perform checks (3/shift) on all machines to ensure that product is to specification & address issues
- Ensure quality issues are effectively resolved to minimise rejects & ensure customer
requirements are met
- Manage the quality change & warp-out process to ensure that specifications are adhered to
- Ensure machine guarding & safety devices are in place & functioning to prevent injury to
personnel
- Ensure looms are stopped if consistently producing poor quality
Management
- Act as a mentor & coach to uplift people, improve motivation & provide life skills
- Facilitate performance management & disciplinary processes
- Conduct training as & when required to ensure skills transfer & enable empowerment
- Identify potential & manage personal development goals
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Matric
- Relevant Technical Qualification (Weaving Learnership, Textile Technology)
- 3 Years within Weaving
