Our client in the packaging manufacturing industry requires your experience as a Materials Supervisor.
The client is based in Ottery, Cape Town.

The Materials Supervisor will coordinate teams in the pre-preparation of materials, oversee overall material readiness for upcoming jobs, and ensure zero variance job closure.

**Qualifications required**
Matric Qualification with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role in a factory environment.

5+ years of practical experience at a supervisory level.

**Roles & Responsibilities**

LABOUR

Labour Allocation:

- Allocate tasks and responsibilities to team members based on skills and workload.
- Ensure efficient use of manpower to meet production goals.

Headcount vs Output, meet Budget:

- Monitor workforce productivity and adjust staffing as needed to meet production targets.
- Manage labour costs within budget constraints.

Skills Matrix, Training & Assessment Plans:

- Maintain a skills matrix to identify training needs and gaps.
- Develop and implement training plans to enhance team members' skills.
- Assess team members' performance and provide feedback for improvement.

Certify Timesheets:

- Review and certify timesheets to ensure accurate recordkeeping of working hours.

Conduct Performance Reviews of Section Leader & Fork Lift Drivers:

- Evaluate the performance of section leaders and fork lift drivers.
- Provide constructive feedback and support their professional development.

Handling of Disciplinary in accordance with company policy:

- Address disciplinary issues within the material handling team in line with company policies.
- Implement corrective actions as necessary while ensuring fairness.

MATERIAL

Material Readiness OTIFARQ (Production, Assembly, Frankie):

- Ensure timely availability of materials required for production, assembly, and other processes.
- Monitor On Time In Full And Right Quality (OTIFARQ) performance for material readiness.

Processing Returns OTIFARQ:

- Oversee the efficient processing of material returns in alignment with OTIFARQ standards.
- Manage the proper documentation and resolution of returned materials.

Job Management (Zero Job Variance Report):

- Lead efforts to achieve zero material variance during production jobs.
- Investigate and address material-related variances to maintain accurate material usage.

OUTPUT & WASTE

Assembly Output Targets in line with budget:

- Establish and manage assembly output targets that align with budgetary and production goals.

Waste identified, baled and removed OTIF:

- Monitor waste generation, supervise proper waste segregation, baling, and timely removal.

MATERIAL FLOW IMPROVEMENTS

Root Cause Analysis for Material Variances:

- Investigate material variances and discrepancies to identify underlying causes.

Improvement Solutions to reduce Material Variance:

- Develop and implement improvement strategies to minimize material variances and enhance material flow.

SYSTEMS

Syspro & Translution:

- Utilize Syspro and Translution systems for effective material management, tracking, and reporting.

Mango

Manage data and processes within the Mango system to ensure compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

COMPLIANCE

Safety Procedures:

- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines within all material handling activities

Production Process:

- Oversee that material handling processes align with and support the overall production process.

Documentations (SOPs, Specs):

- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and specifications for material handling processes.

Quality Standards:

- Ensure that material handling adheres to required quality standards, implementing corrective actions as needed.
