**Responsibilities**:
**a)** **Teaching** **and** **Learning**Contribute to teaching psychiatric occupational therapy theory and practical skills undergraduate occupational therapy students.
- Contribute to the supervision of undergraduate occupational therapy students during clinical fieldwork on the primary healthcare platform and other community based settings. Occasionally, supervision in tertiary hospitals may also be required.Contribute to teaching regarding occupational therapy in the field of psychiatry to postgraduate occupational therapy students.Contribute to the development and the maintaining of standards of the undergraduate Problem Based Learning educational programme.
- Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
**b)** **Research**Maintain and expand their own research profile, publish annually and contribute to the departmental research programme. An existing publication record is essential.
- Conceptualise, develop and implement large, multi-phased, multi-investigator studies that will attract grant funding. Experience in grant writing will be advantageous.
c) **Administration, Management** **and** **Income** **Generation** **Activities**
- Administration of student marks, fieldwork and examination timetables.
- Set and mark tests and examinations, compile marks and organize and co-ordinate fieldwork blocks and postgraduate programmes.
- Expand the Department's Income Generation Programmes.
**d)** **Professional** **Development** **and** **Service** **to** **the** **Academic** **and** **Professional **Community**Contribute to the general promotion and development of the Department and the profession within the School, University and community.
Contribute to Department, School, Faculty and University meetings.
- Contribute to the development of the profession of occupational therapy.
- Develop professional knowledge and skill as an occupational therapy academic and educator and researcher.
- Develop professional knowledge and skill frameworks in the field of psychiatry.
**Qualifications** **and** **Experience**:
- Current registration with the HPCSA as an occupational therapist in independent practiceApplicants must be in possession of a PhD, plus 8 peer-reviewed publications and have graduated at least 3 postgraduate students.
- A postgraduate qualification in Health Sciences Education would be an advantage.
- Applicants must have both clinical and academic experience. Clinical and teaching experience in the field of psychiatry is essential. At least five (5) years’ experience at a tertiary educational institution is required.
- Must have a South African driver's license.
