-The main purpose of this position is to provide team leadership in the monitoring of South Africa’s financial regulatory system by coordinating policy and statutory committees and providing support to the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) participation in international committees relating to financial stability.
-Detailed Description
Provide leadership to the statutory and policy committees, and drive projects and work programmes to ensure that these structures and forums fulfil their mandates.
- Provide support to the executives and senior leadership of the SARB who serve on international committees relating to financial stability.
- Lead and contribute to research and policy formulation projects with SARB analysts as well as between the SARB and other financial institutions and regulators to identify and address vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the domestic financial system.
- Address any weaknesses within the regulatory system based on the results of external and self-assessment benchmarking exercises and propose appropriate responses to identified weaknesses.
- Take responsibility for briefings and presentations on financial stability to the senior management of the SARB, the Financial Stability Committee and statutory committees as well as external stakeholders, the media and other public forums.
- Draft finalised contributions to the Financial Stability Review publication, which is published biannually.
- Develop and provide opinions on briefs, and compile policy proposals for senior management on emerging regulations and regulatory responsibilities.
- Perform project-based performance appraisals for team members, and provide input into the overall performance evaluation process.
- Compile and/or provide input into strategic and operational plans as well as the divisional budget and management information reports.
Job Requirements
at least an Honours degree in Finance, Economics, Commercial Law, Accountancy or a related field, or an equivalent qualification; and
- a minimum of eight years’ job-related experience.

- ability to work independently without constant supervision.
Additional requirements include:

- sound knowledge of banking, insurance, securities and the financial system;
- an understanding of the financial products, services and markets that impact on financial stability;
- basic knowledge of macroprudential tools;
- excellent analytical skills;
- proven facilitation and presentation skills;
- excellent interpersonal skills;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- proficiency in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office products such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
