**Job Spec: Centre Assistant**

**Introduction**:
At the Parktown North Study Centre, we aim to develop the ability of each of our students by discovering their potential. This is accomplished through the careful planning and purposeful instruction of the Kumon Method. The aim for every class day is for the students to leave motivated and with a feeling of "I did it"

We believe that failure is not an option, but a necessity to learning. At our centre, children have a safe space to try and try again until they succeed. Our centre offers a friendly, welcoming environment (online and in-centre) where students are encouraged to progress at a pace uniquely suited to their own ability.

**Reporting Structure**:
The Centre Assistant will report to the Instructor/owner.

**Job Overview**:
The Centre Assistant is mainly responsible for marking and recording students’ classwork and homework and is also required to assist the Instructor in instructional and administrative tasks.

**Daily Tasks**:

- Instructing according to instructional plans
- Managing class flow and supplementary activities
- Assisting with marking when no Early Learners are present
- Assisting with class preparations, particularly the Early Learner section

**Ad Hoc Tasks**:
You will also be required to assist with the following tasks on a monthly or ad hoc basis:

- Stock take, including assisting with bi-annual stock take reporting
- General administrative tasks

**Training**
A fundamental part of working in a Kumon centre is understanding that we are “unfinished.” All staff members are required to train in the Kumon Method. This may include on-the-job training, formal and informal training sessions held at the centre, online training and professional training by the Kumon South Africa training department. Formalised Kumon worksheet training will also be an ongoing requirement.

**Requirements**:

- Matric certificate (with Mathematics, not Maths Literacy)
- An impeccable command of the English language (written and verbal)
- A passion for helping children learn and grow, particularly pre-school children
- Previous experience in education is advantageous, but not essential
- Basic computer literacy (you may be required to work with students using tablets)

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: R60.00 per hour

- Randburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
