Electrician

**General & Installations**:

- Carry out installations of new power supplies and AC 3-phase motors.
- To report faulty appliances or damaged equipment and carry out work as per the required job card.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, rules and regulations.
- Issue of Certificates of Compliance (COC) for electrical installations.
- Ability to diagnose problems on instruments.
- **Maintenance**:

- Carry out breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Testing and commissioning of projects.
- Make use of electrical testing equipment of power and hand tools.
- Preventative maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Conduct general housekeeping in the workshop.
- Maintenance of electrical lighting across the Plant.
- **Testing & Troubleshooting**:

- Carry out troubleshooting and fault finding of processing equipment as well as electrical instrumentation and HMI.
- Test electrical equipment.
- Perform general administrative functions in respect of monthly inspections, job card closures and filing.
- Take immediate action when dealing with breakdowns
- Ensure that all the company’s Safety, Health and Environmental standards are adhered to.
- Required to perform standby duties and work overtime as and when required.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Matric/Grade 12.
- A valid unrestricted Wireman’s license (Electrical COC) advantageous.
- Completed Electrical Apprenticeship.
- A valid medium voltage certificate (MV/HV) advantageous.
- Instrumentation background advantageous.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a production, workshop, plant, maintenance and electrical as well as chemical environment with a good understanding in operating electrical equipment.
- Previous experience in mentoring and leading apprentices.
- Must possess very good electrical engineering skills.
- Experience in instrumentation maintenance advantageous.
- Possess good communication (verbal and written), problem solving, customer service, technical, I.R., time management, organizing and planning, analytical, team work, mechanical skills as well as design skills and knowledge.
- Ability to work under pressure and able to follow instructions.
- Must possess skill in the use of tools associated with the trade area, i.e. hand and power tools, measuring equipment, etc as well as a range of testing devices.
- Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including adherence to safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team with strong Maths skills.
- Must be able to report to a Team Leader.
- Computer literate in MS Office (Word/Excel) and Outlook.
- Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license, have own reliable transport and must be medically fit to drive.
- Ability to solve problems systematically
- Must be willing to work standby and be available for call outs as per roster.
- Knowledge of SHEQ Management Systems standard/requirements advantageous
