**About Us**

Blue Door ECE is a preschool programme which aims to equip young children in South Africa for success in both school and life. In contrast to the daycare-oriented approach observed in the vast majority of existing educare centres throughout South Africa, the core function of Blue Door educators is to create opportunities for active learning experiences. They are supported in this function by our rigorous up-front training program, a teaching tablet loaded with daily ‘Lesson+Activity’ guides created by our centralised curriculum team, and ongoing professional development from roaming instructional coaches.

**About the Position**

We are looking for a friendly, hard-working person who loves children to join our team as a full-time Custodian at one of our preschools in the Northern Suburbs

General responsibilities:

- Follow all SOP’s and understand that failure to comply will result in strict disciplinary measures.
- Understand the magnitude of the role that is being accepted.
- Always be on time, following routine and communicating as an effective part of the whole Earlybird team.
- Be neat, with hair tucked away and clothing that is comfortable and easy to work in.
- Refrain from wearing excessive jewellery and accessories whilst performing duties.
- Manage time effectively and ensure that duties are carefully and meticulously completed.
- Work closely with the principal and teachers to ensure that the children’s health and safety needs are always prioritised.Work as a part of a dynamic team, assisting the principal,as well as some communal responsibilities within the team.
- Work closely with the principal to uphold the standards that Blue Door Educare Centres have set.
- KitchenPreparation and serving of meals according to the set menu and portion control guidelines.

Adhering to dietary requirements and allergies of individuals.
Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas.
Proper storage and stock control of all food and cleaning materials.
Ordering and monitoring food and cleaning materials.
Monitoring and reporting maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Management of recycling and biodegradable waste.
- BathroomsCleaning and sanitising of all bathrooms.

Ensuring routines are adhered to in order for bathrooms to be cleaned after every “Wee & Wash” time.
Checking and reporting maintenance of all hygiene equipment int the bathrooms, including sanitary bins, soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers.
Stock control, monitoring of usage and ordering of bathroom consumables.
- Communal AreasSweeping, dusting and mopping of all communal areas.

Cleaning and sanitising frequently touched areas.
Monitoring and reporting maintenance of all areas.
- ClassroomsAssisting teachers with cleaning responsibilities as and when needed.

Waste removal on a daily basis

About You
- Minimum of one year’s work experience in a cooking and cleaning environment.
- Possess strong people-management and team-work skills.
- Able to see the big picture, adapting to each situation as it arises.
- Service oriented.
- Good at planning and organising.
- Empathetic and sociable.
- Highly diplomatic.
- Skilled in identifying problems and brainstorming potential solutions, as well as effectively implementing solutions.
- Excellent at written and oral communication as well as presentation.
- Passionate about connecting with parents and children.
- Personable, reliable, organised, motivated by impactful work.
- A creative problem-solver who is undaunted by the inevitable challenges that will crop up as we work to break new ground in South Africa’s under-developed Early Childhood Development sector.
- Based in Matlosana or surrounds. **Available to start Mid January 2023.**

**Salary**: From R4,000.00 per month
