Contract - Housekeer

The Bay Hotel is currently looking to employ Housekeepers on a SEASONAL CONTRACT, from October to April.

You will be responsible for performing any combination of light cleaning duties to maintain public areas and rooms in a clean and working manner. Duties include making beds, replenishing linen, cleaning rooms and halls, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and polishing. Cleaning interior and exterior areas.

**Minimum Requirements**
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Previous experience in the same or similar position
- Familiar with the duties and procedures in the Housekeeping Department.

**Duties and responsibilities**

**Cleaning**
- Clean all rooms when cleaning units.
- Including lounges, restrooms, kitchen, bedrooms.
- Clean public areas.
- Including corridors, courtyards, balconies, stairways, locker rooms.
- Health, safety and hygiene standards need to be met in all areas.
- Empty waste baskets and clean ashtrays.
- Transport other trash and waste to disposal areas and place in bins.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaner/machine.
- Wash windows, wall, ceilings, woodworks. Wax and polish if necessary.
- Hang draperies and dust windows blinds.

**Laundry**
- Ensure that linen for the rooms is always clean and neatly folded ready be used in the rooms.
- Change and clean laundry as per protocol.

**Supplies**
- Carry Linen, towels, toilet items and cleaning supplies.
- Replenish supplies such as bathroom glasses, linen, amenities, refreshments and writing supplies.
- Keep storage and bags well stocked, clean and tidy.

**Maintenance**
- Record and report maintenance issues.
- Fix any minor maintenance issues (e.g. replacing lightbulbs).
